Joel is the co-founder of Derfner & Sons. He holds an A.B. from Harvard College and an M.F.A. from New York University, where he teaches musical composition and creative writing. He is the author of three books: Lawfully Wedded Husband (2013), Swish (2008), and Gay Haiku (2005).
